Miss Jacintha Tan graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with Management from the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and holds a Specialist Diploma in Band Directing from National Institute of Education (NIE). Also, she has attended conducting masterclasses by internationally acclaimed conductors like Mr Felix Hauswirth, Mr Eric James Watson and Professor Ho Hwee Long.
Her band journey started in Temasek Secondary School as a clarinetist under the tutelage of Mr Wong Yew Hon and Mr David Anthony Glosz. Upon graduating from secondary school, Miss Tan went on to perform with various bands including the Philharmonic Youth Winds and National Institute of Education Symphonic Band. She found her passion for wind band directing and conducting during these formative years.
Currently, Miss Jacintha Tan is the Resident Conductor of Cedar Primary Brass Band, Beatty Secondary School Concert Band and Seng Kang Secondary School Concert Band. Under her baton, these bands have performed well both locally and internationally. The bands have achieved Gold Award and the Certificate of Distinction at the Singapore Youth Festival (Central Judging for Bands) and Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation for Bands and Ensembles respectively.
