Mr Yeo Jie Yuan developed a passion for band music education in Maha Bodhi School when he was a student of Mr Quek Boon Hui. Mr Yeo continued his band music education in Manjusri Secondary School under the tutelage of Mr. Simon Foo. Upon graduating, Mr Yeo went on to perform with various bands including the Philharmonic Youth Winds, National Institute of Education Symphonic Band, Moulmein Winds Symphony, Novo Winds, Le Band, West Winds and The Band Directors’ Association Singapore Wind Orchestra (BDASWO).
Jie Yuan graduated from the National Institute of Education (NIE) where he attained the Specialist Diploma in Band Directing, studying under the tutelage of Prof. Ho Hwee Long (Conducting), Dr Eddy Chong (Music Theory), Prof. Peter Stead (Instrumental Pedagogy), Dr Kelly Tang (Composition) and Dr Eugene (Music History).
Jie Yuan is currently directing and teaching at the following institutions.

- Maha Bodhi Primary School – Assistant Band Director
- Bendemeer Primary School – Brass Tutor
- AudioImage Wind Ensemble – Associate Music Director

Under his direction, the bands have achieved the Certificate of Distinction awards at the Singapore Youth Festival Art Presentation (SYF) since 2015.
Jieyuan is currently serving as the Executive Council Member of the Band Directors’ Association (Singapore).
