Joseph Teo started his music education at the age of 13 where he first picked up his Euphonium in his Secondary School band. He went on to join the Philharmonic Youth Winds at the age of 16 and progressed to the Philharmonic Winds where he currently holds Principal Euphonium. Subsequently, he took his playing to a professional level as he joined the ranks of the Singapore Armed Forces Central Band as a military musician where he held Section Leader and Principal Euphonium.
In his bid to further his music learning, Joseph attended masterclasses with many internationally acclaimed conductors and musicians including Kevin Thompson (Principal Trombone of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra), John Cradler from the US Marine Band, Timothy Reynish, Ito Yasuhide, Maestro Douglas Bostock, Alan Lourens and Col Michael Colburn (Conductor and world renowned euphonium player from the US Marine Band).
In 2010 Joseph graduated as a post graduate from the Kunitachi College Of Music Japan in Euphonium studies where he came under the tutelage of world renowned Euphonium Professor Toru Miura of the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra. Joseph obtained his Licentiate Diploma in Euphonium awarded by Trinity Guildhall in 2011 and grade 7 theory awarded by The Associated Board of Royal Schools Of Music.
Being a very active musician in the local band scene, Joseph has been invited to perform with many tertiary groups. He is also an active euphonium tutor to many award winning bands ranging from primary to tertiary levels.
Joseph is currently the Band Director of Bendemeer Secondary School, Tampines Secondary School, Maris Stella High School (Primary) and the Assistant Conductor for the Maris Stella Symphonic Band.
