Tarun Jayaram

Beginning his musical journey at the age of 13, Tarun Jayaram picked up an uncommon wind instrument; the bagpipes during his time in the Saint Joseph’s Institution Military Band. It was there that his interest in band music developed and led to him joining the symphonic band at Catholic Junior College years later. It was in JC, Tarun began on the Clarinet and has been active as a clarinettist since.

In late 2014, he began his teaching endeavours as an Assistant Band Director at Clementi Town Secondary School. Under his guidance, the band has obtained the Certificate of Distinction at the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation for Bands in years 2015 and 2017.

Tarun is currently the Assistant Band Director of the Clementi Town Secondary Band and the Saint Andrew’s School Military Band. Along his teaching work, Tarun actively performs in several local bands including the Anglo-Chinese Schools Wind Ensemble and Orchestra Collective.
